Hey, welcome back to the MrExcel netcast.
I am Bill Jelen.
Basically, we start out with massive amount of data.
We say how we're going to analyze this.
Let’s fire up a pivot table.
Let’s see if we can solve this problem.

I'm doing this before I leave for Seattle.
It's a wrong time of day the lights coming in the room.
You're just gonna have to deal with it.
I should have done it earlier, but I didn't On Friday, I asked about ideas.
We as people have to make Excel better in the next version Excel 2012 or 2013.
and some of the ideas that came in.
Great ideas.
I'm gonna pass along a few ideas.
Though are already in Excel.
Someone said hey why why can't we sort by a column.
I mean it's easy to sort by row of course Z to A or A to Z.
Why can't we sort by column?
And it turns out that you can.
So, I'm going to put new column sequences up here and then we'll select all of this data, So, [ Ctrl+asterisk ] We go into the actual sort dialog and this was in Excel 2003.
The options button was at the bottom.
Menu> say in there that we want to sort left to right, click Ok and now we're going to sort on row 1.
Sort on values smallest to largest and arrow so watch it goes Region, Product, Date Now, click OK And it resourced the customer revenue profit, based on that column that we had.
I guess if you wanted to sort the columns alphabetically, you wouldn't have to add the extra row of numbers.
However it never works out.
That's the way you want to sort it.
So I always add the extra row.
Make sure to pre-select the whole data set because of the fact that I had sorted this before by rows.

When I added that new row did not include it.
So, that [ CTRL+asterisk ] is a really important way to go.
So, as I said today is Tuesday.
I'm out in Seattle right now.
Learning all kinds of great things about Excel 2010 And I may have some news to report later in the week, but right now recording a little bit ahead here.
So that way we can make sure that there are pods while I'm gone.
