To build a new element, click outside of any existing elements, and choose items from the Power View Fields list. Every new element in Power View starts as a table, so you will initially get a pivot table on the canvas.

Click inside the table. On the Design tab, choose a new element type, such as a Column Chart. The resulting chart will be too small, so use one of the 4 resize handles around the element to enlarge it.

There are hidden controls for every element. You can only see the controls when you hover your mouse above the element. In the box above the chart to the right, there are controls to Sort, Filter, or Pop-Out.

You might build a dashboard with 9 tiny charts that are too small to use. The idea is someone would use Pop-Out to enlarge the charts one at a time.
