Problem: I have data in Excel 2013. I don't know what to do next.

Strategy: Select the data. Click the Quick Analysis icon that appears below the lower right corner of the selection. Browse through the Formatting, Charts, Totals, Tables, and Sparklines headings at the top for a tour of what you can do to the data.

  1. When you don't know what to do next, browse for ideas.

Everything that you see here is available elsewhere in Excel. The two that are innovative are % Total and Running Total. It is easier to click the icon than to manually type this formula.

  2. My favorite Quick Analysis trick.

Gotcha: This feature is new in Excel 2013. It is not available in Excel 2010.
