Learn Excel from MrExcel podcast episode 1647: F4 or Ctrl + Y to ReDo.
I've covered this on the podcast before but it's worth mentioning again.
Anytime that you do any operation in Excel, for example, I’m going to apply a color format to this cell and then I want to repeat that operation, you can choose another cell and press either Ctrl + Y or F4 to repeat that operation.
This is handy for all sorts of things.
Let's say that I wanted to insert a row here.
So I’m going to do Alt + IR to insert a row.
I can press the up arrow and F4, up arrow, F4, up-- basically toggling between the up arrow and F4 to repeat that command.
Very fast way to go or let's say that we got this data that some moron had double spaced and I want to delete a row.
Alt + EDR and then come down F4, F4, F4, down arrow, F4, down arrow, F4, down arrow, F4.
It's just a really good command to repeat the last thing that you did.
I was in Orlando, Florida last week for the Orlando IMA.
I did a seminar down there and Christoph reminded me of that tip and it was a big hit in the seminar.
So I’ll insert a column here and then F4, F4, F4 and then if I want to make these narrow, Alt + OCW 1.
F4, F4, F4 to just, you know, knock out repetitive commands over and over and over again.
So today's tip: reminder to use F4 next time you have to do the same command over and over.
