Wiebe points out a better solution for Episode #838 - Excel already has an icon for Filter by Selection. It is hard to find and poorly labeled, but it is in there. Episode 851 shows you how.

Hey, welcome back to the MrExcel netcast, I'm Bill Jelen.
Well, back in Episode 838, I showed this cool Macro.
It would basically do Filter by Selection, and I kind of lamented the fact that Access had a button for Filter by Selection and Excel did not-- so the Macro solved that.
Got a note from Reba, he says, "Hey, there is such a button: Go into Tools, Customized, and right up front on the Data category, yeah, there's something called Auto Filtering." I always assumed this just did what Data Filter, Auto Filter did, but it actually is Filter by Selection.
Now, you want to take both the Auto Filter and the Show All up there, and basically just choose one cell and click the Filter=, and it filters by selection.
Show All, and then now choose another Customer, and it shows you just those records.
Something already built-in, completely unintuitive that it's there, but a much better way to go.
We'll be sending an Excel Master Pin for that beautiful observation that Filter by Selection is already available in Excel.
Thanks for stopping by, we'll see you next time for another netcast from MrExcel.
