Say that you have a pivot table with region and product in the row area. If you would like a blank row between each region, or even a page break between each region, change the Layout properties for the field. Episode 503 shows you how.

Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast. I'm Bill Jelen.
Yesterday we talked about a cool way to be able to color the different rows in the pivot table.
Have to show you another great trick that we have.
We have region and product going down the left-hand side of this pivot table and let's say that we want to separate every region by a blank row or even by a page break. If you double-click the region field, double-click the region field and then click the layout button.
There's a couple of grade settings here including insert a blank line after each item. Let's try that Click OK and we now have blanks separating each item and there's also an option for insert page break after each item.
So if for some reason you needed every region to be on a different page this would take care of it.
Let's take a look at the print preview.
There's the East Central West. Now the big problem here ofcourse is the West region is getting the grand total.
You would actually have to go through and manually add a page break between grand total and make sure that the West region VP doesn't see the grand total for the whole company.
You would use insert page break there to add that grand total.
Another great tip with pivot table.
This again came from someone in the audience at the Meowski accounting conference last week.
Great tip wanted it pass it along to everyone out there.
Thanks for stopping by. Will see you next time for another netcast from MrExcel.
