Welcome to MrExcel netcast.
I'm Bill Jelen.
Today instead of a tip I have an invitation for you.
I'd like you to join our challenge of the month.
We have a challenge usually about six times a year or we invite people to send in answers to an Excel problem.
And we have a challenge that's coming due on Monday, April 16th.
This is kind of a fun challenge.
It was the question posed to me in one of my power Excel seminars.
The person needed to calculate a sales commission and the way that the sales commission works, is that for the first two thousand units sold during a calendar year.
They pay a dollar fifty per unit.
But then after that, it switches over to a dollar 25 per unit.
And of course, the big problem is that the two thousand mark never falls exactly at the end of a month.
There's always one month in the middle where you need to figure out that some units are paid at the first rate, some units are paid at the second rate and so the challenge is just simply to design a formula to handle that.
If you go to MrExcel.com and go to challenge.shtml or even from the left navigation bar, just choose challenge of the month you can download this zipped Excel file.
Or you can build your entry and send it in have a chance to win some great books.
Will talk about the the best solution for this in an upcoming podcast about seven or eight days from now.
Hey, thanks for stopping by.
We'll see you next time for another netcast from MrExcel.
