Welcome back to the MrExcel podcast, I'm Bill Jelen.
You know, it’s possible in Excel to customize your toolbars.
You can add any one of hundreds of new icons to your toolbar, to simply right-click the toolbar, choose Customize, which will display the customize dialog box.
On the center tab, the Commands tab, there's 20 different categories, choose a category, and then there are dozens of new icons that you can add to the toolbar.
And it’s simply a matter of dragging the icon and dropping it wherever you would like it to go.
Now I learned a cool trick last week.
The Close button for some reason in Excel doesn't have an icon associated with it, you have to have the word there.
If you switch over to Microsoft Word, though, and customize the toolbar, it's possible to add an actual icon for Close.
And what you do when you're in customized mode in Word, right-click the icon and choose Copy Button Image, and then go back to Excel.
Again, right-click that icon, Paste Button Image, and then you can right-click and choose to show the Default style, which is just the icon.
There you go, an obscure little trick, you can take icons from any of the Office applications and bring them back to Excel.
