MrExcel Podcast is sponsored by EASY-XL. Learn Excel from MrExcel Podcast, Episode 1466: Embed a PDF Today's question is sent in from YouTube.
Someone wants to know if they can put a PDF right in their worksheet, and you can.
It's out here on the insert tab-- let's make it smaller so you can see it-- It's this little cactus picture thing-- the Insert Object-- and there's all kinds of things we can embed.
But, the first one is an Adobe Acrobat document-- we'll choose that-- brings up a browser where we can choose any PDF we want and then-- it's real strange-- it opens the PDF in Reader.
I don't get that.
Just close and you'll go back to excel.
And, now, what you have, is you have your Excel workbook, and there is kind of a snapshot of the first page of the PDF that gets embedded.
But, you can save this, send it to someone else, and when they get it, they can double click that icon and they get to see all of the pages of the PDF.
So, it's not just a matter of, "It's putting a picture of it"; it's putting the whole PDF there.
It just shows them the picture-- kind of as a snapshot-- and they can double-click.
Cool little trick; you can do that, of course, with Word documents and PowerPoint and so on but, it certainly works here with PDF.
Okay, I want to thank you for stopping by, We'll see you next time on another netcast with MrExcel.
